Creating Through The Static

Creating Through The Static

Distracting the thought with interest and creations

I've been trying to make at least something every week, even if it's small. Not just to improve my skills or push a portfolio forward, but because creating helps keep my mind active in a way that actually feels good for me. For me, creativity has never just been "practice" or "work". It's more like something I lean on when things get loud in my head. When thoughts start spiralling, when I start overthinking everything, or when my self worth feels like it's cracking a bit at the edges, I kind of naturally end up making something just to steady myself again. It doesn't always have to be serious either. Sometimes it's a sketch, sometimes it's messing around with design ideas, sometimes it's just opening a blank canvas and seeing where my brain goes. It's less about the outcome and more about giving my thoughts somewhere to go that isn't just negative loops. I think people have different versions of this without always realising it. Some people do puzzles. Some build LEGO sets. Some go to the gym or game for hours just to switch their brain off for a bit. For me, it's drawing and designing. It gives me something to focus on that feels real and grounded when everything else doesn't. There's something really comforting about it, even when I'm not making anything amazing. It reminds me I'm still moving forward in some way, even during slower or heavier periods. Like I'm still here, still creating, still trying, even if it's messy or inconsistent. And yeah, that's kind of it. Just making things to keep my mind steady when everything else feels a bit too noisy. I've also attached a few images of what I've been working on in my own time.
